No plan for free education – ANCYL

It is disturbing that an effective plan for free education has not been developed, the ANC Youth League said on Thursday.
“To date the minister of higher education and training has not developed a coherent approach on the delivery of the progressive realisation of free education,” the ANCYL said in a statement.
“We... demand the immediate implementation of the resolutions taken at the 2007 Polokwane congress of the ANC.”
The ANCYL said it would support a march organised by the SA Students Congress, taking place in Pretoria on Friday.
It called on its structures to join the march, which would be attended by ANCYL deputy president Ronald Lamola and deputy secretary general Kenetswe Mosenogi.
“This march is a reminder that our country continues to face a crisis in education,” the ANCYL said.
“We continue to witness young people being excluded from tertiary institutions and the African majority not having access to higher education.”
The march starts at the Tshwane City Hall at 9am and proceeds to the national department of higher education. – Sapa
