Comedian Bill Maher, a major donor to a super PAC supporting President Obama, referred to Mitt Romney's Mormon faith as a cult.

Maher said on Twitter that the presumptive GOP presidential nominee should be discounted when it comes to foreign affairs.

Romney spent two years in France on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Maher, who hosts his own talk show on HBO, donated $1 million to Priorities USA Action, a super PAC that supports Obama. Some Republicans have called on Obama and his Democratic allies to denounce Maher, who has made someoffensive comments about Sarah Palin and other women.
