Game of Thrones Shocker: George W. Bush's Head Shown Decapitated on a Stake

Is this a case of political rebellion or a bargain buy at the local prop shop?

It turns out that Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss decided to use a George W. Bush mask as one of the decapitated heads on a stake during some of the show's scenes.

The Republican party didn't really like that.

Bush's "head" can be found in the season one finale—bratty King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) shows Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) a row of traitors' heads on pikes. Unfortunately, Ned Stark (Sean Bean) is among the decapitated, as is Septa Mordane (Susan Brown). But, Sansa, along with the rest of us, was probably surprised to George W. up there, too!

"People may not have noticed this but back up...the last head on the left is George Bush," the show creators explain during the DVD commentary. "George Bush's head appears in a couple of beheading scenes."

But as far as it being some subtle political outcry...

"It's not a choice. It's not a political statement. It's just...we had to use what heads we had lying around," they said.

Regardless, chairman of the Brooklyn Republican party Craig Eaton feels that this is not OK.

"Whether you like him or dislike him, whether you're of the same political persuasion or not, we still have to respect the office of the presidency and all of those who hold that presidency," Eaton said, "Americans of all political persuasions should stand up and demand that things like this should not continue. They should boycott watching this particular show."

''It doesn't matter what their intent is," he said. "They didn't intend it to be political, but now that it is, they should remove it."
