There are no victims or car crashes.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 19 km (12 miles) from Los Angeles Civic Center, 3 km (2 miles) from Marina del Rey, CA and 7 km (5 miles) from Inglewood, CA.
Los Angeles is subject to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire. The geologic instability has produced numerous faults, which cause approximately 10,000 earthquakes annually.
Major earthquakes to have hit the Los Angeles area include the 1994 Northridge earthquake, the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake, the 1971 San Fernando earthquake near Sylmar, and the 1933 Long Beach earthquake.
