The Battle with Yourself as an Entrepreneur and How to Win

In business you are likely to face a lot of bullies and challenges. One of the major bullies in business is you. We are going to focus on you and how to win the battle against yourself as an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur is an honor; especially if you have a ground breaking idea that becomes successful. But most people are just dreamers, sitting on the sideline hoping their idea is picked up by someone and make it a business. They have ideas but luck the courage to implement the idea. Worry no more because I am going to show you ways to win the battle.
Ideas Do Not Make A Business: The first thing you should know if you have a business idea is that, your idea would not become a business if you do not take the initiative to make it happen. Like I always say, “A business cannot start itself unless someone takes the risk to make it exists”. Some people look at the risks involved in starting a business and say to themselves that it is not going to be me taking all that on myself. These people are quick to avert taking risks rather than finding a solution to the risk. Sadly to say that those people who do not like to take risks are likely the people that could be successful entrepreneurs because they have better innate risk assessment skills.
Best If You Know the Risk: The reason why people with high risk assessment intuition could be better entrepreneur is that they have the mind to assess whether a business idea would fail at a mistake or not. But the most important step in this process is the next step which is how to avoid making that mistake. One of the difficult think in business is risk assessment. And for someone to have an idea and at the same time spot the risks involved in implementing the idea is a very good skill. So instead of letting the risk stop you from implementing the idea, it should rather motivate you to start your business. Because the funny thing is the very risk that is preventing you from starting your business is the exact reason why most people with similar ideas are sitting on the sidelines. And guess who gets the larger market share when the idea is implemented? It is the person that started first; the person that spotted the problem and took the initiative to solve it.
Believe In Yourself And Product: One lesson that I would like to chip into this article is a lesson I learnt from one great entrepreneur and investor Barbara Corcoran. She said in one of her articles, "It's really about the battle with yourself, not about the people battling around you. That's where the real battle is won or lost, based on what you do with yourself".
She said in that article that always stand tall and maintain a positive internal dialog. Because failure or success is not what the people around you are doing but what you are doing with yourself and by yourself. Barbara said one time she was going to real-estate guru Donald Trump office to have a meeting with him and she felt incompetent because she felt she was going into the presence of the big kahuna. But she said as quickly as the negative thoughts came the faster she debunked them in her thought. That is the key to success. Always maintain that spirit and enthusiasm that if no one is successful at doing it; it is going to be you even if you feel in competent. Remember it is not the people around you but you. So what others say and do around you is not what defines you but what you define yourself to be. Barbara says you should have a big mouth. Because if you do not believe in yourself and your product, no one else well. And so always be honest in your dealings and with hard work and success will be knocking at your door.
