Katie Holmes Cancels Appearance—Did Security Team Fear Scientology Members?
Katie Holmes canceled the first public appearance she was to make since filing for divorce from Tom Cruise. Sources say her security people felt they couldn't adequately protect her? Did they fear problems from members of the Church of Scientology?
According to a report from OK Magazine, Katie was supposed to appear on Saturday at a gala for the Dizzy Feet Foundation, but pulled out at the very last minute.
Katie started the Dizzy Feet Foundation three years ago along with Carrie Ann Inaba, Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman. It promotes dance education around the U.S.
"Katie was really excited about attending the event, but in the end, her security team had concerns about the situation, especially the daytime event given it was being held in a public park," a source says.
Do you think Katie's security team feared problems from Church of Scientology members might crop up? Would church members make an attempt at abducting Katie Holmes?
"The organizers had beefed up security but even after doing all of that, the decision was made because her team couldn't guarantee Katie's safety," a source says.
Doesn't this sound bizarre to you? She's Tom Cruise's soon-to-be ex-wife—not a huge superstar or a political dignitary? Why all the extra security?
