Mohamed - “We cannot underrate Ahly Shandy”

Al Hilal’s Nigeria-born right back, Yusuf Mohamed tells Cafonline.com that they are wary of opponents, Al Ahly Shandy in their opening match of the group phase of the 2012 Orange CAF Confederation Cup this weekend.

Below are details of the interview the 28-year old defender granted Cafonline.com in the build up to the game.

Cafonline.com: How ready are Al Hilal players for this match?
Yusuf Mohamed: We have been preparing for the task, which I’m aware won’t be an easy encounter despite the fact that Al Ahly Shandy are making their debut appearance in the competition. Their performance so far has been encouraging backed by their incredible determination from the onset. I believe the coach (Diego Garzito) knows how to tackle them and the players will also do our part.

Cafonline.com: What is your assessment of Al Ahly Shandy?
Yusuf Mohamed: Frankly, Al-Ahly Shandy has a strong team. They are also guided by a tactical and experienced coach who has a lot of talented players in his team. It will be no easy game as each side is looking forward to victory.

Cafonline.com: What will the approach as a team?
Yusuf Mohamad: We will be relying much on our attackers to bang in the goals to achieve victory. My only caution to my colleagues is against underrating Al Ahly Shandy. We have to go all out for the win we so much desire.

Cafonline.com: What your expectations of this game?
Yusuf Mohamed: With determination and current performance, we are looking forward to no result other than victory. Also the inclusion of Narcisse Ekanga, formerly of TP Mazembe and Senegalese Ibrahima Sane has added more bite to our attack.

Cafonline.com: How far do you think Al Hilal can go in the competition this year?
Yusuf Mohamed: With our current form, I think we have what it takes to win the trophy. We are equally working hard to achieve this goal.

Cafonline.com: For the first time, there are three Sudanese clubs in the same group. What is your take on that?
Yussuf Mohamed: It is historic to have three Sudanese club in one group. This means, we must attach great importance to every game from the coaches, players to the fans. Matches between the three teams will be very difficult due to the existence of the rivalry amongst them.
