Source: Milan is targeting Giuseppe Rossi

The Villarreal hitman was seen talking with Milan's head coach and several players, and Urby Emanuelson admitted to Goal.com he would love to play with Rossi and Kaka.

NEW YORK -- AC Milan's rebuilding process might not take as long as some expect.

Goal.com has learned that Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is a target for the Serie A club as it looks to rebuild after selling both Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain for 62 million euros.

Rossi was in attendance for Milan's brutal 5-1 loss to Real Madrid at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. After the match, he was seen speaking with several of Milan's players and head coach Massimiliano Allegri outside of the team locker room.

Another reported Milan target, Kaka, was also inside Milan's locker room for over 30 minutes and he walked out hugging his Brazil teammate Robinho and talking to players.

Neither Kaka nor Rossi made themselves available for comment, but a potential future teammate of both players, Urby Emanuelson, is looking forward to the possibility of playing with them.

"Yea, those guys are two great players. I think they will make the team a lot stronger. We will see what will happen," Emanuelson told Goal.com.

"We still have three weeks for us to rebuild. We will see what happens. I think the club obviously wants to bring in some players, so we'll see."

A source told Goal.com that after securing a loan to buy deal for Villarreal's Christian Zapata, Milan is interested in a similar type of deal for Rossi, who is still recovering from a knee surgery that he had at the end of last season. If Rossi was healthy, it is likely that Villarreal would hold out for a deal around 20 million euros.

However, with Villarreal playing in Spain's second division, it is almost a certainty that Rossi will not play for the club this season. Prior to the Yellow Submarine's relegation season, Rossi had made his thoughts known about wanting to join a bigger club.

Before to his injuries during the 2011-12, Rossi had a breakout year in La Liga. The New Jersey native scored an impressive 32 goals overall for Villarreal.
