Why did police race to Miley Cyrus' house after a 911 call and reports of a "home invasion"?
The LAPD raced to 19-year-old Miley Cyrus' house last night after receiving a 911 call at 6:50pm to report a possible home invasion, TMZ report.
But when they arrived at the scene (do you like our cop lingo?) with their guns drawn (of course) the house was deserted with no sign of any crime having been committed.
At first police dismissed it as a false alarm, but sources say they now think it might have been part of a prank called 'swatting'. 'Swatting' is when annoying folk take a break from pulling the wings off flies and call police falsely reporting serious crimes in an attempt to provoke emergency responders into sending Swat teams.
Cops reportedly told TMZ that if the call was indeed a prank, which it appears to be, the caller will be arrested and face serious criminal charges. And if someone was ever hurt or killed in a prank the caller could face felony charges, which, for those who don't watch Law and Order enough means they're in deep dark trouble.
We're imaging this news won't fill Miley with joy. She's currently hanging around her fiance, 22-year-old Liam Hemsworth, in Philadelphia where he's filming his new movie, Paranoia, with Harrison Ford.
